Truck driver sentenced to 25 years in prison for causing a fatal crash nearly two years ago in Kentucky.

The crash happened on Interstate 64 in Franklin County, Kentucky, in September 2019.

According to police

Elder was viewing a video on his phone when his tractor-trailer collided with a Jeep on I-64 in September 2019, killing one person and wounding another badly.

Elder received a 25-year prison sentence on August 13th, 2021. He is charged with manslaughter in the second degree, assault in the second degree, and first-degree wanton endangerment.

Prosecutors proposed a ten-year sentence for manslaughter, a ten-year sentence for each assault charge, and a five-year sentence for each wanton endangerment charge during the sentencing hearing.

Mr. Elder must serve at least five years in prison before becoming eligible for parole.
