After winning a $100,000 lottery prize this month, a North Carolina truck driver is looking forward to making fewer monthly payments.
Roderick Pryor, a truck driver from Battleboro, claims he was picking up his wife after a hair appointment when he stopped at the Grab N Go on NC 48 and decided to buy a $25 lottery ticket. When the ticket was shown to be a winner, Pryor claims he was skeptical and took the time to secure it, grab his glasses, and double-check before celebrating.
“It didn’t feel genuine,” Pryor explained to the North Carolina Education Lottery. “I stated that I would not believe it until I held the cheque in my hands.”
Pryor claimed his winnings on Friday, October 8th, taking home $70,757 in after-tax earnings.
“I’m going to pay off my house and her vehicle,” Pryor said. “Those are two more expenses that I will not have to worry about.”
